Temporary Roofs in Brighton, Chichester and all Locations in the Surrounding South East Area

A temporary roof is a scaffolding structure that waterproofs a property during construction so that you can continue working safely. Leaving the roof space exposed to the elements can lead to water pooling, or ongoing issues with dampness, mildew and mould. Our scaffold erectors construct temporary roofs using traditional scaffolding tubes, fixings and a choice of corrugated sheet or shrink wrap to protect buildings against the impact of wet weather.

Our scaffolders cover Brighton, Chichester, Storrington and the West Sussex area, but we can also supply and erect temporary roofs anywhere on the surrounding East Sussex, Hampshire, Kent and Surrey borders.

Installations from our scaffold erectors can also protect the structural strength of a building and can even control the temperature and humidity of your workspace. Most importantly, temporary roofs protect your workers from rain, snow, sleet and the very worst the UK weather can throw at them. We feel it is especially important to protect properties during the winter months.

Phillips Scaffolding Ltd is a friend to homeowners, contractors and the trade.

Installation

The most common style of temporary roof is one with corrugated sheets used as the covering. This is a lightweight system that is easy to transport and just as easy to work with because it installs so quickly. Our scaffolders build up to the roof height and check for stability before installing the roof itself. We span the building with beams and then install perpendicular tubes to carry the weight of the sheeting and support the structure. The corrugated sheets lay similarly to roof tiles and have an overlapped configuration to stop water ingress.

Our scaffolding erectors then secure the sheets so that they stay in place.

To complete projects in Brighton, Chichester, Storrington and the surrounding areas, we completely encapsulate the scaffolding structure with your choice of material. The material you choose to create a temporary roof will vary based on the size and scale of the job, and on the project’s specification.

Encapsulation

In addition to corrugated sheets, our scaffolders can also encapsulate with shrink wrap to completely waterproof the roof and the structure. This is an especially good choice for a temporary roof because shrink wrap contains well, and it protects against side winds as well as bad weather. Shrink wrap allows daylight to enter the enclosed area, which makes the workspace safer for your team. A drum-tight seal leaves a smart and professional finish.

And, because shrink wrap is a 100% recyclable material, you never need to worry about the impact our scaffold erectors have on the environment.

Phillips Scaffolding Ltd also has access to plastic sheeting which secures to the temporary roof structure with bungee cords. This is an excellent low-cost solution and still a good choice, but plastic sheeting won’t hold up as well against bad weather and high winds when compared to shrink wrap.

This makes plastic sheeting more of a summer choice.
